To ask a grieving mother to remove items from her child’s grave is appalling. Shame on whoever wrote that letter!

Disgraceful from the council. People should be able to decorate and look after graves the way they see fit, not dictated to by a council on this matter.

Having lost their love ones this authorised behaviour from the council lacks empathy towards human emotions.

They should be ashamed of what they are asking family’s to do as this is the one place for some to be close to there loved ones.

It is a disgrace what the council are doing to families my brother has been there for nearly 10 years and it is heartbreaking as it is without the council doing this we go to pay our respect to my brother and should be able tof put what we like at his resting place so what gives Sileby council the god dam right to put such pathetic rules up they didn't pay for his grave or his funeral or his stone how would they like it if it was a member of their family your council have no bloody respect you are a disgrace so where are people supposed to put flowers then so when we get high winds flowers will be blowing all over the place making a mess in your cemetery personally I think you are so very selfish in what your doing to families hope you don't have your final resting place there because I think you at Sileby have already dug your 6 foot hole already with so many grieving family's so really think what you have done and correct Your hurtful ways !!!!

Totally disgraceful the action of the council. In a multicultural land as we are constantly reminded, people who’s loved ones have past on should be allowed to decorate the grave how they wish. I have travelled to many countries and graves there are decorated very nicely with candles burning, toys, ornaments and pictures. So let people decorate them as long the deed holder keeps it plot clean and tidy.

As long as there is nothing offending any other person visiting a grave then this is completely unbelievable that notices would be put on graves like this. A letter through the door if it really is a problem but you DO NOT place a note on a grave. That in itself should be classed as desecration I believe. People grieve in different ways and different items mean different things to people. Would love to see what is classes as not allowed and was this list shown to people / signed when they placed their loved ones there. If not then this is utterly disgusting and apologies should be given immediately.

Utterly disgusted in the lack of humanity shown by the council.

Surely the Council have bigger problems than this to sort out. Hope someone sees sense at the council and leave them alone, how would they feel if it was someone in their family.

This is absolutely appalling behaviour. People should be allowed to decorate their loved ones graves how they see fit.

Absolutely disgraceful decision. Families have already lost enough without losing the right to make memories with remaining family members to treasure and honour the memory of lost loved ones

My Aunt & Uncle are having a similar problem with 2 graves they own which were both slabbed around 45 years ago. They had no dealings with this as they got the memorial place to sort it out so surely the memorial place should have got the correct permission from the council. They are both 90/91 and find this very upsetting indeed. GOOD LUCK
