A cemetery is a sacred space for those who have lost a loved one. Allowing people to maintain the grave of a loved one in the way they wish is the very least that can be done to go some small way towards supporting them in their grief. If any small adjustments are needed in the maintenance of the cemetery to accommodate this then they should be made as a simple act of human kindness.

This is ridiculous for what good reason are they asking them to not put things on a grave? And then to threaten them,it is disgusting

I personally could not imagine a child/baby’s grave with nothing on it. It’s a comfort for families who have lost loved ones too soon and I find this rather disrespectful. It’s the deed holders land, they can put what they want on it

The cemetery in sileby is a everlasting memorial to the people of sileby I have relatives there and their peace should not be disturbed by a council run by overpaid busybodies who are here today and gone tomorrow

Absolute disgrace, I do not comprehend the arrogance of the council. An extension is as rude as the ban, why oh why is it being banned? which fool felt this was acceptable? A Leicester exile in New Zealand

This is a terrible and upsetting thing to inforce. The reasons behind it just don’t justify the upset it will cause a lot of families.

My daughter lost her baby too and I know how much comfort it brings her to tend the grave and decorate it with teddys etc, gifts that can’t be given in person. It is not interfering with anyone and they should be allowed the only thing that brings them some peace. Losing a child is the hardest thing to bear.

If this helps people cope with losing a loved one and is tidy and looked after them it should be allowed especially a child
