I have not heard of this anywhere. This is the first time and I am stunned. WHY would a bishop order this? What is the point? I know some priests in some dioceses have refused to give Holy Communion to anyone who kneels or refuses to receive in the hand. I am in the Diocese of St. Petersburg, FL and we have no such directives. We have one parish, Epiphany, located in Tampa which is strictly the extraordinary rite. Our Cathedral of St. Jude has the Tridentine Mass every Sunday--These things you write of sounds like formats from a different religion. I noticed that standing last Sunday increased the chit chat and restlessness of the people. It is very distracting to see people swaying and twisting around waiting to sit down. I wanted to be positive about this but I felt disappointed and sad to have lost another piece of reverence.

I completely agree! We need more reverence for the Lord, not less! There was always uniformity before they made these changes

Even though I belong to Youngstown-Warren Diocese, which still kneels in the Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, I visit Catholic Churches in your Diocese quite often. I really don’t understand the reasoning behind this!

While I understand the sentiment, a time that could be spent in reflection and prayer turns into people watching.

There is no need for all this disruption in our church.let us keep kneeling!
