Allow International Protection applicants to apply for drivers licenses using their Temporary Residency Cards

International Protection applicants are currently not allowed to have driving licenses and often live in areas that don't have public transport. RSA says they don't meet residency requirement which is irrational considering that an international protection applicant can live in Direct Provision for as long as 10 years and is not allowed to leave the country without the Minister's permission. We ask that regulations change to allow applicants to apply for a driver license using their temporary Residency Card and PPS number.

The RSA is finally forced to notice that thousands of us are done with their bureaucratic excuses that trap people in isolation. This momentum proves they can no longer hide behind outdated residency rules while families rot in Direct Provision centers without a way to reach the basic necessities of life.

For pity sake - treat these people respectfully and allow them the dignity of self provision. They are human beings who want to work, commute and be a relevant part of the Community - grant them the rights to do so
Living in a place with no bus service means being stuck. How are they supposed to get to work or go to the shop if they cant drive. It makes no sense to keep them locked away like that.

ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS that they are expected to just sit around for years. let them drive so they can actually get on with their lives and support themselves.
