Final supporters
Since Movement Control Order from 18th of March, it has been almost 2 months for music teachers and music schools to cease our business operation. In this trying times, some of us has opted to conduct online lessons in order to provide students with their necessary music education and also for us to continue sustaining part of our cost of living. However, there are many setbacks for online lessons:
1) Many parents do not accept online lesson as efficient teaching method and refuse to let their children take online lessons during MCO.
2) Bad internet connection has made many students unable to attend online lessons.
2) Request from parents for fees reduction for online lessons
3) Online lessons are not suitable for some young children below age of 7.
As many music teachers are self employed, this is a very difficult time for us to survive.
We hereby from music education industry, would like to appeal to allow for physical one to one music lessons.
We also understand the government concern on the potential spread of
Covid-19. Thus, we shall strictly follow SOP for Covid-19 prevention:
1) Teachers and students have to wear mask
2) Temperature check before entering to start lesson
3) Hand wash for 20 seconds and apply sanitizer before start lesson
4) All musical instruments, facilities and surfaces in classrooms will be disinfected after every lesson,
5) Avoid physical contact between teachers and students
6) Maintain social distancing at least 1 meter between teacher and student
7) And any other SOP required by government

I have been hearing from so many of you about how hard the silence in your studios is becoming and honestly it is breaking my heart because teaching is just not the same through a screen. I am currently trying to get a list of the health protocols together to send over to the local office because if we can show them how careful we are being maybe they will finally listen.

I see the numbers creeping up toward that one thousand mark and it makes me think about how many of us are sitting in quiet houses right now just waiting for a way to get back into our studios. We really need to push this over the edge so someone in charge finally has to acknowledge the reality of our situation. Please grab the link and send it to your colleagues or those local parents who keep asking when they can finally bring their kids back for in person instruction.

In such difficult times like this, music teachers need supoort. One-to-one teaching is a best option for music and art subject, provided proper sop to be adhered to the 'new normal'. Online teaching has its limitations and can help teachers as temporary measure. Thank you.
With the introduction of the CMCO and the new norm, most businesses and economic sectors have reopened with regulations and conditions. Why not one-on-one classes? We all want the best for our students and kids, with appropriate hygiene and safety standards, One-n-one tutoring programmes can be among the safest.
Agree on all the above points. Music teachers' livelihood has been greatly affected. If shops with multiple customers are allowed to operate, why can't one to one music lessons. If anything, music teachers are more inclined to follow SOPs set by the officials.
One on one lesson can be done accordance to SOP. Students are starting to request for class as we believe most students progress are left behind. Yet there are numbers of students will be sitting for upcoming exams.
I’m a music teacher, I’ve been teaching music by one to one all the time in my center, currently this MCO makes a lot of students temporarily quit without paying fees, and my income is reducing. I hope that government can grant this opportunity for music centers to resume classes
I am running music school only providing one to one vocal lesson in a big room more then 3feet distancing.
Music classes should be allowed if teachers and students follow proper SOPs and take care of personal hygiene. Class are conducted and are to continue to be conducted as one-to-one session.
