What an inconvenient and unnecessary rule. At least the ground floor should permit food. Many people don't have the time or money to leave to eat while studying.

This policy is especially troublesome for students who spend HOURS in the library the week before finals. This was absolutely terrible timing- enabling students to become malnourished during a stressful time of year.

Sometimes we don’t have time to stop and sit where we get the food from. We take it straight to the lib to eat while we study.

I WILL NOT ALLOW THIS MONOPOLY ON HOT FOOD AT HILLMAN. HILLMAN IS ALLOWING THEIR OWN HOT FOOD BUT NOT ANYBODY ELSE'S. OVERTHROW THE ESTABLISHMENT!

Yes hi I spend hours in hillman at a time and we are adults and can clean up after ourselves I can understand "no food near the books" or "dont eat around out computers please" but let me bring in my dinner I was in hillman for seven hours straight and ordered dinner because I need to eat and was going to be there all night. you need to eat in order to study, do you not want us to utilize your library services?

I don't use the library often but when I do it is for hours at a time. As a commuting student I always carry my lunchbox with snacks and drinks, including meals for lunch that I heat in a microwave. Food often helps me stay focused and awake and not being able to eat what I want it ridiculous. Also, why just hot foods? Chips can be really distracting and a mess, but I can't eat a bowl of chili that won't get everywhere and has no crumbs?

As we noted over the weekend when this petition first came out, the food policy DOES allow cold food and covered drinks -- there has been a miscommunication, but the signs throughout the library also affirm that the policy only restricts hot food.

restricting food in the library disincentivizes people from wanting to spend time there. fewer people will study at hillman so it will serve fewer people

If you're spending 30 hours in the library during finals week, you should be able to eat there. Plus, this rule will stop those studying from eating.
