The schedule change was finally approved and we can proceed with finals before the exams. I am exhausted from this fight but the relief makes it worth everything. We will watch closely to ensure the new policy is implemented fairly for everyone.

Final supporters
Students will do significantly better on APs if they are allowed to take finals before the AP test because students are generally more motivated to do well on finals than APs. Good AP scores reflect well on the school.
There is typically a three week periodbetween AP exams andfinals when most AP teachers do not continue to teach new information.Waiting to take the final three weeks after the AP exam will be counterproductive as students will have this time to forget material.

The exhaustion is setting in but hearing from so many students dealing with this same academic burnout reminds me why this matters. I am still working to get the administration to see that our schedule is actively working against us.

Grades are grades. The time when you obtain them does not matter unless your curriculum requires you wait. And for APs, there is no feasible reason to have finals later on the same material. Think here, people.
It's worked so far. No need to wreck what works, let alone as much as I would love more stress for my end of the year, I think I'll pass this time. But seriously, the have finals next to APs is the best solution, being that we will know the most we can before the AP, so it would be backwards for us to forget things just to be forced to relearn for finals.
This will seriously help. Students perform significantly greater on both finals and APs if the finals are allowed before the APs.
