Nearly every surrounding neighborhood allows chickens. Why not Hampton?

Our family would love to have chickens at our home in Hampton Township. We have plenty of green space for them and they would provide eggs for our family and perhaps our neighbors. These are scary times right now and not only would they provide food (eggs),chickens would also be great for teaching my children how to raise and care for them! Something they are definitely not learning in school. Also, they make wonderful pets. We moved to Hampton for the wonderful schools and family community and to in hopes to take care of chickens! Please consider this. Thank you!

Chickens can be raised reasonable, cleanly, and responsibly. I worked with Pittsburgh zoning and City council on code that allowed people in the city to raise chickens. A simple 'by-right' code, similar to traditional pets is one of the easier ways of handling chicken code in a municipality. I would be happy to talk to anyone at Hampton on how to draft such code.

Having chickens allows people to be self-sufficient and I strongly believe that the right to self sufficiency is a basic, human right. I do support limiting the number of chickens.

Chickens provide numerous benefits to their keepers and communities - fresh eggs (have you noticed how those are vanishing from our grocery stores recently?), bug control (would you like some Lyme with your corona, anyone?), and they make entertaining and easy to care for pets. There are many nearby municipalities that allow the lawful keeping of backyard chickens. This is a simple change that could allow your residents to live more sustainably, self-sufficiently, and healthfully.

I think chickens in the backyard is a tremendous idea. Fresh eggs everyday. Sweet sounds of chickens clucking.

Why not? Although I am sure that more than a few people would regret their own choice in having chickens, that is not my business.

I love the idea of allowing backyard chickens if done in a thoughtful way. For example, ensure that your chickens remain on your own property and possibly restrict roosters.

Many large cities with much higher population density, like Baltimore, allow three hens. We should be able to have the same.

Great pets. Had them in Raleigh, NC. Roosters are beneficial but just hens for eggs and big control are great.
