This is not surprising. We need new better educated people in office. With everything else going on, they are worried about chickens. They need to understand that they are a healthy food choice that feed families.

Resident since before 1980. Let the city and county residents have chickens in their backyard. I sure some well trained lawyer can write regulations regarding odor and loud crowing roosters. There are, I’m sure, other items that should be made regulations. But let law abiding citizens that pay taxes have their chickens.

To disallow these domesticated birds is ridiculous, A high rise condo or commercial downtown business I get. This is Catoosa County! Let our citizens live their lives without unnecessary interference.

More people need chickens to help feed their families! We all need to start doing things to help our community take care of one another. Gardens and chickens provide food a lot of families will need if inflation keeps going the way it is. Let’s stop wasting time harassing people and start working on solutions to help our friends and neighbors.

Sadly, this is one of the main reasons we moved out of Catoosa County. It's a shame they won't allow families to be self sufficient.

If you can keep your chickens in your yard (fence, coop, chicken tractor), and the number of your flock is space appropriate, you should be able to have them. They are multi purpose, especially for eggs and a healthy gardening area for fresh food. Goats as well. A couple of goats in a fenced yard keeps mowing down, thus less gasoline for mowers, they give milk for drinking, cooking and cheese. And, like chickens, space appropriate. Don't pack them in. Give them enough space to roam and be healthy and happy.

I think we should be able to have the freedom as Americans it the land of the free and brave to have chickens so we can feed our families, that way we know what our family is eating and we don't have to worry about chemicals and recalls and stuff like that.

Why is this even an issue? 100 years ago this was understood and lauded. Today we are regressing in common sense...“Uncle Sam Expects You To Keep Hens and Raise Chickens.” This USDA poster simultaneously addresses personal food security, childhood responsibility, recreation, income potential and patriotic duty all with a simple appeal for backyard chickens. Come on Catoosa County - let us all have our chickens. Walker Co 4H even promotes this for our young children to learn from.

Freedom to raise your own food, on your own property takes away the reliance on government. Article 1, section 1, paragraph 1 of the GA constitution protects citizens right to Life, Liberty and property. Chickens are your property and therefore protected. Take a stand for liberty on this issue, even if you dont like chickens, and one day your grandchildren with thank you.
