Grocery prices keep going up, and chickens can provide families with fresh eggs and a source of food right in their own backyard.
I’d rather hear chickens and roosters than loud music, speeding cars, or other neighborhood noise. Chickens aren’t dangerous—they simply provide a useful resource for families.
Illinois used to be full of wildlife, including wild turkeys, yet we barely see them in Oak Forest anymore. Nature isn’t what it used to be. Allowing a few backyard chickens would help bring a little of that connection back.
If Homer Glen can allow backyard chickens, why can’t Oak Forest? I believe responsible homeowners should have the same opportunity.
Just a simple, honest opinion from an Oak Forest homeowner.
