no rason families can't raise their own chickens for eggs, and meat since the grocery stores are an absolute rip off and unaffordable for most families

We should add bees to this too. Interested in doing a presentation at city hall? I’m up for it. With runaway inflation, and supply chain issues now running high and looking to be prolonged fir years to come, this is an important bylaw to allow for food security. 61 Cavendish Drive. We have a large backyard and no immediate intention to rear hens on our property as we have no time! It's a fleeting idea for us but I believe people have a fundamental right to generate their own safe and sustainable food supply with some reasonable controls or limits in place to prevent nuisance complaints. I do want our children to know where their food comes from and to know they have food supply options other than other than mass agriculture. Rather than hens though we might invest in a flowhive for honey and to help the bees...

Not only is it important to be able to provide for ourselves, we have a right to choose where our food comes from and to take proactive steps to invest in the personal health of our families. With increasing health problems today, there are others like myself whom are limited in their choices. Further having to refrain from eating eggs because of experiencing reactions to what feed the hens are commercially fed is a challenging frustration. Eggs are a significant source of protein, vitamins and healthy fat but commercial eggs have reduced amounts of these nutrients than those from "pastured" hens, whom get healthy exercise, are mentally stimulated, grow slowly and thereby grow stronger bones full of vital minerals, forage for foods, have healthier gut flora and lay higher nutrient dense eggs as a result. To care for our own hens reassures us that we are providing the best health choices and a sense of well being for our families.
As a resident of Belleville/Thurlow, I would like to see this matter be given strong consideration. Please change our bylaw so we can have some control over our food choices and have greater control over our health and wellbeing. This is a real necessity. Thanks and many blessings.
