Since neighboring cities(Kingston, South Frontenac) allow it there is little to no reason why Belleville could not adapt

We only want a few hens for eggs and fertilizer for the garden. No harm for anyone in that....

There are some people who have more than one pet (cats dogs) and make more of a mess than raising chickens or any other fowl and they are not as noisy as dogs ,so why not allow people to raise them.

As long as we don't let them run wildly in the street this would help my grocery bill so much .

I think it's important to encourage people to 'grow' their own food and to pass such life skills on to their children.

Council:
There are a number of benefits.
-fresh food.
-food produced via self
-wonderful compost additives
-good food will be economical.
-this will boost education of children.
-this is not a commercial enterprise.
-eggs will be 1-day fresh, not 30+day fresh.
-human health will be positively affected.
-children will receive instruction as the 'how' and 'why' and 'when' and 'where' of the fresh food process.....thereby
-creating a more holistic approach to acquirement of food production knowledge.
-living in a community of obvious necessary interdependence.
Besides, a review and acceptance of citizen petition/request will garner appreciation and support for a council often stressed by greater issues.

my son is very sensitive to foods, so having our own chickens for eggs would be wonderful. We like to know where our food comes from.

I live in Rossmore but I think this would be amazing. I lived on Vancouver island and there were chickens allowed there and on the smaller islands around. Even the city of Victoria had them. Fresh eggs what a treat. Not to mention having your own fertilizer for your veggies.

Please please please allow chicken in your back yards!! Would love to have freaks eggs on a regular basis! Wouldn't have to worry about the health and week being of the chickens my eggs came from.
Backyard chickens are good for the city
