An open letter to Rich Rodriguez and the coaching staff of the University of Michigan football team: As you make your way through the rigors of another demanding season, we wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude for all that you have done and for all that you are doing. When we heard that you were chosen to carry on the legacy of legendary Michigan coaches, we believed that we were getting proven winners. While we knew that a change in leadership would bring some unique challenges, we were certain that you would continue our tradition as the “leaders and best” both on and off the field. Today we remain confident, as the indicators of future and prolonged success are everywhere. From achieving the highest recorded team grade point average in program history to continuously improving strength and conditioning marks, we are convinced that this staff and these student-athletes are properly focused. So we thank you for your commitment to turning our sons, brothers, neighbors and friends into outstanding young men. We thank you for reminding them of the realities and the rewards of hard work in all aspects of their lives. We thank you for your passion for the game and for the well-being of your student-athletes. We thank you for preserving a one-of-a-kind program’s hard-earned reputation and for displaying the determination required of championship teams.
