Prevent the Closure of Allander Indoor Bowling Club

There's a need to remind our local councillors that their job is to support the community they serve. So many instances recently where they haven't a clue including the attempt to turn every bit of green space into some form of allotment or community garden. In this case a promise was made to the bowling club that the new development would include what is currently there. Promises once made cannot be broken. Any two year old will tell you that.

Why is the allander leusure club closing ax being done up ???? It is perfectly good as it is.The people of bearsden DONT want this to close. Listen to the locals voices.

My son Bowls both Indoor at the Allander & Outdoor and has dun so since he was 8yrs old ✔️

Thought the council were pro activities and as the bowling is well used in current location this once again shows the lack of joined up thinking and leadership of the EDC. Less cycle lanes expenditure and spend the money on what local residents actually do use.

REALLY? has anyone considered ACTUALLY ASKING the people that use this facility....it would appear at least a few havent been asked obviously... or this petition would not be required. No matter what financial justification is being used ..yes justification - there are differing ways to generate things ...so WHAT ELSE IS ACTUALLY POSSIBLE HERE ..that honours the contracts - formal or no that have been made with members? Communities divided create far more challenges especially with the rise in mental health challenges. I wonder who OR what has to change for this to be possible? thank you

A caring council should grow its amenities not axe them! It’s hard to comprehend how ED can be short of cash when one notes the expansive house building programme with immense council tax paid for services .

All the research into health and well being stress the importance of staying active and being socially engaged to ward off loneliness. For East Dunbartonshire Council to willfully get rid of an established resource which addresses both of these issues is short sighted. Money spent on providing a new indoor bowling resource will be money well spent for the future.

This facility is used by my dad and is a form of exercise, a source of social interaction and a major hobby in his area. It might even be a reason that he moved to the area. He's been using the facility for over 30 years.

Sports centre needs bowling facilities
Keep this vital faculty open for the community.
