All South Carolina High School Scholastic Hockey teams should be allowed to participate in the State Championships as every other South Carolina high school hockey team has in the past 10 years (since league inception), Our teams all seek to play in the South Carolina State Championship Tournament without fear of facing arbitrary oral rules which the SCSHA’s Executive Board seeks to enforce retroactively by imposing severe disciplinary punishment on a team and players that are financially unable to attend the USA Hockey National Tournament on nine (9) days notice. Our teams simply want to play for the South Carolina State Championship. We respectfully seek your assistance in this regard to this issue prior to the South Carolina State Championship Tournament scheduled to be played on March 9, 10 and 11.

“All tournaments must be completed not less than fourteen (14) days prior to the first day of the national championships. Dates for national championships will be established by the Youth Council at the Annual Congress prior to the tournaments and announced at that time.”
USA Hockey Annual Guide 2011-2012, page 152.
“Must a team be the State champion to be eligible for the Tournament? No. While being a State champion would be ideal, if a State champion cannot attend the Tournament, another qualified team from the State can be selected by the Affiliate to attend the Tournament”.
