The board finally reversed their decision and our teams will be playing for the state title after all. Seeing these kids get the fair chance they deserve feels like a massive weight lifted off our shoulders. Thank you for pushing back against these rules alongside me.

All South Carolina High School Scholastic Hockey teams should be allowed to participate in the State Championships as every other South Carolina high school hockey team has in the past 10 years (since league inception), Our teams all seek to play in the South Carolina State Championship Tournament without fear of facing arbitrary oral rules which the SCSHA’s Executive Board seeks to enforce retroactively by imposing severe disciplinary punishment on a team and players that are financially unable to attend the USA Hockey National Tournament on nine (9) days notice. Our teams simply want to play for the South Carolina State Championship. We respectfully seek your assistance in this regard to this issue prior to the South Carolina State Championship Tournament scheduled to be played on March 9, 10 and 11.

Seeing this level of support reminds me that these players deserve a fair shot at the championship they have worked all season to reach. The momentum behind our cause confirms that the hockey community in South Carolina refuses to let arbitrary rules block our kids from the ice.

Watching these kids be told they cannot compete because of a financial barrier is heartbreaking and frankly unacceptable. I have been spending my nights digging through league bylaws to prove that these arbitrary rules have no place in our state championship. We are preparing to challenge the board directly and your support gives me the confidence to keep fighting for every single player.

9 days notice for a national trip is crazy. Most families cant just pull that cash out of thin air. Dont punish the kids for it.
Unreal that the board would do this to high schoolers. Just let them on the ice.
Total garbage. You cant just invent new rules because a team cant afford a trip on short notice. Let them play for the state title.
These kids worked hard all season just to be told they cant play. Let them compete like always
