This plan is designed to line the pockets of the developers without a thought for the people of the area.

I was an Eastender for 20 years and factories like this are the lifeblood of London's manufacturing base. I would be shocked if it was forced out by greedy property developers. what do they give London ?

It would be a shame if the building which is already in a conservation area had to change its appearance

For a city to have hart and character it needs a good mix of buildings. We are fast running out of light industrial sites and cannot afford to loose this one.

So many local businesses (= permanent employers) were disrupted as part of the clearances for the Olympics. Why impact one of the few that weren't, and in an historic building at that?

It gives me great pleasure to sign this petition in order to save Algha Works and Utter sadness that once again a perfectly origional and working building is to be turned into flats! Algha Works is a regionally important non designated heritage asset making a positive contribution to the character & appearance of the Fish Island & White Post Lane Conservation Area & should be left well alone. I the under signed, object to Application No. 16/00102/FUL as the proposed single-story addition covering most of the flat roof would seriously harm the character & appearance of Algha Works & the conservation area. Please 'London Legacy Developement Corperation' REFUSE this Planning Application. Thank you.

This spectacle manufacturing works is a unique irreplaceable part of the history and current life of this community which enables local jobs and products for which Britain is renowned. It is this mixture of housing and workplace which gives such character to London and it is this which will sustain it into a new future where small is beautiful. It
To allow housing here would be an unforgivable act of destruction. To keep it would be an act of faith and a gift for the future.

London's industrial heritage is being wiped out by greedy landowners who disrespect what makes London special. Soon it will be empty of Londoners, and empty of creativity. The factory creates tip top goods for use and for export. Mrs May said she would govern for ALL of us. Let's pray that's true and that the landlord does not get his nasty way. Property versus industry.

Buildings like this are an important part of London's history. London needs nuggets of genuine authenticity like this. Protect Algha Works as it is.

It is important that this building is preserved as it is because of its unique industrial character and function. Too much of our architectural history is being lost in Tower Hamlets and once lost it will be gone forever.

No more "luxury" apartment developments in Hackney Wick! We need jobs, investment and affordable homes for local people, and we should be helping to support and sustain local businesses.
