People need work as well as affordable homes. Keeping the building provides the former. Conversion to flats provides nothing but luxury flats

We need businesses like this, giving employment. We don't need more buy-to-let.

It is so important to value and and keep our architecture fraud industrial heritage. Most important is to preserve the working environment of everyday people with a skill or craft which they are still working at. Luxury flats are becoming 2 a penny, people with useful skills need to be valued and supported for their skill and knowledge and be able to pass it on to next generation.

The integrity of a workspace is as important as the work that is being made. Indeed, there is a symbiotic relationship between the two. Should one suffer, the other will be affected adversely. As will we.

As a historian who has written about this area - and whose ancestors lived nearby - I urge you to save this historic building and thus the firms and jobs based therein.

As an engineer for over 40 years and having been born in Londons East End , it is essential that we maintain some manufacturing industry for work for the ordinary people still living there. Surely we must retain this heritage skill as the whole area has been yuppified far too much, with too many studios and conversions to executive appartments, such that families that have lived there for generations making the place what it is today can no longer afford to live there.

Save the jobs of these craftsmen, luxury flats not needed except as investment for the rich.

is'nt it nice to see people being productive creating things by hand for the home markets and export. the local council should cherish these businesses as they are an asset for the present and forthcoming generations. I feel as a country we have lost our way just look at the present generation they are little more than sheep. sad to say like all these planning applications we will sadly lose to the money men.

Developers bulldozer has demolished enough buildings in London. Buildings like the Algha Works need to be preserved as they are rapidly becoming unique examples of an architectural style rapidly disappearing.
