We lived in Leabank square until 1996 when it was still a real working class place. It was full of atmosphere and I can remember the nose of the machines within the walls of the factories. We still need industry in this country more than ever and what better than to amalgamate it with the new art industries, bars and restaurants. Don’t let’s lose this opportunity for a new and exciting environment. Keep industry alive in the heart of London as it always was.

My best of wishes for this historic and much loved manufactory. Though it sounds as though your attempts have been frustrated, perhaps you may in some way win the day!
Best of wishes!

Quality workmanship should never be pushed aside for luxury housing.

London is a wonderful diverce community.
We need more manufacturing to withstand the ever pending Brexit. Governments and local councils should be helping people with years of knowledge to continue and pass down a future for younge people - not just get rid of for some apartments-

One cannot put a price on quality. Mr. jenkins is a one in a million craftsman. His work and this building cannot be replaced.

I wholly object to this plan. Keep manufacturing there at Algha Works and stop more ridiculously priced "apartments" from being brought into the area.

I consider without retaining historical commercial buildings as commercial places of creativity and activity we loose a sense of who we are.

This building is a splendid example of British industrial heritage. It deserves its place in history as part of the conservation area.

The heritage report says the impact will be minimal - omitting the fact that yet another business will be forced out of the area. This is a terrible proposal; once again selling out the life of the East End.

So important to preserve the old skills. We cannot keep on letting the fat cats ride roughshod over our heritage.

Loss of the spectacle workshop would be devasting for British craftmanship and design.

Too many of the old skills have already been lost, we must retain the Algha works so that hand crafted spectacles skills can be passed on to future generations

The last remaining bastion of British spectacle making must be preserved as it is still relevant today

I remember visiting this magical place as a educational visit as part of my training as a Dispensing Optician. It was a treat to the senses and is a treasure trove of craftmanship and care to providing a unique product . The building it self holds so much history and it would be a real shame to lose it as it would be unreplacable! Sign the petition.
