The volume of support has secured us a meeting with the local planning committee later this week. I am currently preparing the formal documentation to argue for the permanent retention of the poppy. This momentum allows us to present a clear mandate during those upcoming negotiations.

That’s rubbish. It’s been up a few years now so another lie. They owe alfreton after this year. Give alfreton some dignity and let’s remember the fallen regardless of 100 yrs they should be remembered all the time.
It should definitely stay we should not remember those who gave their all once a year it should be EVERY DAY then perhaps someone somewhere may listen
Just leave it alone....surely it's already paid for. You're the council put their to serve its people and the people want it leaving.
When the fighting stopped, remembrance began. That should not stop. We owe them what we have today.
What harm is it doing. We the veterans of the armed forces Would appreciate this symbol of the poppy to be kept were it was.
Please leave the poppy where it is !

Firstly, I like to say how saddened I am to hear this new my family as always been in forces through out generations and I can't tell you enough how much upsets and distress this has caused to here this news. Maybe the council should ask there people what they want.
