I had the privilege to have Alf as one of my sons first coaches and he never put them aside if they weren't his best skaters, he treated all his team members the same on and off the ice. As far as I am concerned he was an icon to Brighton Minor Hockey and is deserving of this honor.

I was in the figure skating club and remember seeing this man in the arena a lot. He was the best at sharpening our skates!

There is absolutely no doubt that this should happen. I don't live in Brighton, but I've taught here for many many years. This man was a huge part of this community. That should be memorialized in the place that was his second home. A place where he treated kids as they should be treated.

My two boys have always played hockey for Brighton. Alfie was at the arena every day unless he was at an away game or coaching somewhere. Whenever a piece of equipment broke or was forgotten Alfie was there sizing the child up for whatever was needed before anyone could even ask. This was a man that not only lived and breathed Brighton minor hockey but even more lived for the kids of Brighton minor hockey.

I first met Alfie on school trips with his grand daughter. He was all about kids being active. He gave my daughter several pairs of skates as she grew. I tried to pay for the skates but he would never take it. He just wanted to see kids on the ice.

Alfie helped me lots as a child in BDMHA. he spent hours sharpening skates and helping kids st the arena. This is a great idea
