We were so disappointed to hear of Mr. Beaty's resignation. When we moved to Aledo two years ago, it was after a terrible year in another highly ranked elementary school in another district. It was very test-driven and the pressure came straight from admin to the principal to the teachers and on to the students. My children dreaded school and found no joy in going. The teachers were cranky and unhappy, tho they were very pleasant outside of the school. We moved to Aledo and many folks encouraged us to give McCall a chance, that it's not like the typical public school. One visit to McCall was all it took for us to unenroll our kids from the private school we planned to attend, and enroll them at McCall. Every person in that building is smiling and relaxed. The environment and atmosphere at McCall is joyful, light, welcoming, and conducive to learning. There is a reason teachers want to work for Mr. Beaty and it's because he cares for his staff and students. Teachers and students thrive under his leadership.
I do not like the system of funding based on test scores and data. However, I do understand that's what we have to work with. But it is my strongly held opinion that Mr. Beaty is not the issue or the problem. Accountability is great and needed, but a narrowminded view of test scores not improving leading to pushing out a phenomenal administrator will only harm McCall and the district.

We are better than the STAR test. We are Aledo. A stupid test doesn't make a school. The life lessons and leaders are what shape a child.

My wife and I have one daughter who has attended McCall for the past 2 years. She has a much older sister who also attended public school throughout her entire childhood prior to entering (and graduating from) college. In the older daughter's entire 12 years through high school, there was just 1 principal that I believed represented and cared about the school (it was an elementary school) the way Mr. Beaty does for McCall.
We are the taxpayers and we need to exercise our right to determine the best leadership for our children.
Here is our vote to keep (and now promote with a handsome raise) Mr. Jason Beaty as Principal at McCall Elementary.

Mr. Beatty exemplifies what an outstanding educator should be - if he tendered his resignation then something egregious occurred and should be rectified! Fix the problem and then reinstate him!

There's not enough space in this format for me to testify as to ALL the deeds this man has done for children over the last 15 years. If Aledo ISD administration would focus on what an advocate he is for children, they would reward him and hold him up as an example for other leaders. As for testing goes, "Those born into less privileged social and economic circumstances are punished at least twice: first, when they start life already behind their more privileged peers; and second, when the testing game's sorting, labeling, and screening of children begins." Mr. Beaty is the best elementary school principal I have ever known. He is a man of principal and integrity. He is devoted to his job and is invested in the success of each of his students. This is an extraordinary loss for Aledo ISD.

Mr. Beaty is one of the reasons McCall is what it is. He puts the students and teachers first. He loves the students as his own, takes care of his teachers and all of the families love him. A huge loss for McCall and the Aledo ISD.

Good luck, Jason, at your new school. You will be truly missed. I have never been around a principal that cared more for his students and staff than you. It's a shame that test scores and state funding is all that matters these days. A lot of the high brass in education have really missed the boat.

Jason is a fine educator, speaking from personal experience as a student of his during my elementary years at Coder Elementary (2001) and interactions throughout my entire time in the AISD and beyond in my doctoral studies. He is a positive force in the school district and provides both the students and staff at McCall Elementary with the best possible work environment. He is the principal and kind of administrator that everyone looks forward to greeting as they come to school. Losing him is a HUGE mistake.

In our families 10 years of public education in Aledo, Mr. Beatty truly stands out. He is a good role-model for all our kids and he makes it clear that he cares about each and every child that comes through the doors of his school. I can not imagine McCall without Jason Beaty. This was my daughters first year at MCall and he bent over backwards to make sure that she was comfortable and confident in the classroom. Our daughter is a 504 student and he made us completely at ease in our ARD meetings: he truly listened to our needs, the teachers recommendations and made sure we left with a game plan we were all comfortable with. You can truly tell he has a heart for his staff and his students and the atmosphere at McCall is proof.

I didn't have much faith in any public school system until I had the pleasure of joining the McCall family in 2011 and meeting Mr. Beaty. Losing him would be a terrible loss!!!!

It would be a shame to see him leave. My kids had him back when he was at Stuard. I remember him as strong yet compassionate. He cares about the whole and rounded education of the children he over sees. It's not just about a test. The day test scores becomes the only important thing will be a sad day for our district. Teaching character and values by example is just as important as "book smarts", if not more important.

I can't believe that the Aledo school district would let a loving and dedicated educator go for something as trivial as test scores. One mans worth should not be determined by a score on a test but more so on the lives in which he makes a difference.
