This petition is in support of the Alameda County Alcohol Conditional Use Permit (CUP) Ordinance, requiring a reasonable distance between alcohol establishments and sensitive receptors, such as schools, parks, libraries, and places of worship. Alcohol establishments include bars, clubs, lounges, liquor stores, grocery stores, gas stations, and ONLY CERTAIN RESTAURANTS (those with a separate bar or lounge area or those that provide rediced-price drinks). We also support local control, and NOT state control, of the CUP application process. This basically means that alcohol establishment owners should have to go before the community and present their plan! Every city surrounding the Unincorporated community has an Alcohol CUP Ordinance (San Leandro, Livermore, Hayward, Oakland, Walnut Creek). Let's set an example to our youth and ensure that RESPONSIBLE businesses come into our community!
