Demand for the resignation of Alan Duncan MP
We the undersigned ask David Cameron and the Conservative party to demonstrate their commitment to cleaning up parliament in the wake of the recent expenses scandal by forcing the resignation of Alan Duncan MP as a member of the Shadow Cabinet and as a Conservative parliamentary candidate, as a result of Mr Duncan's fraudulent and dishonest expenses claims which go against the spirit of parliament, for boasting about the "marvellous system" of parliamentary allowances on popular television show "Have I Got News For You", and finally for complaining that MP's now live on "rations". Mr Duncan's comments show that he has not learned the lessons of this scandal and is unfit to represent his constituents, many of whom are likely to be losing their jobs, and will not consider his £64,766 salary plus allowances "rations". Such comments are highly inappropriate at a time of reccession and hardship for millions of British people, and bring parliament, and the Conservative party, into disrepute. His comments are likely to fuel public anger and the belief that politicians have not understood the lessons to be learnt from the expenses scandal. We feel that in order to show the public that the Conservative party, and parliament, does understand the public's anger, Mr Duncan's resignation is neccessary. We expect that Mr Cameron and the Conservative party will respond accordingly, and swiftly.
