Changing the "goalposts" in inethical, immoral, and totally unacceptable. All parents who have children @ Akiva have placed them there a) because its a great primary which offers a jewish education without it being rammed down the childrens throats, and b) because of the fact that neither the children, nor their parents are going to encountrer more trauma at age 11. This has been true since JCOSS opened, to change the goalposts for the children already in the school is unforgiveable. If JCOSS wants to change their entry rules, then do so with two.three years notice, so that no one- or their siblings start at Akiva under false pretensions or with a fals sense of security. To do this to children & parents alrready at Akiva is unforgiveable & leaves a very nasty taste in one's mouth indeed.

JCOSS is the only option for progressive Jews, we showed our intentions early by sending out children to Progressive primary schools. It's untenable to change the rules when we'd already signed up to different ones AND when so many of us helped to create JCOSS in the first place.

JCOSS is not only a great school, but one that shares the ethics and ethos of Akiva School. Being forced to go to another school has not only academic implications - it affects our children's identity as curious, tolerant, open minded, knowledgeable and confident reform Jews.

Akiva children have no other Jewish feeder school. Some parents were assured by the Head Master as rexently as May 2013 that the admissions criteria would not be changing for the year 2015-16. Both of the other Jewish feeder school are also feeder schools for other Jewish schools.
