So, what about the people who moved to Alaska as children? For example, maybe parents were in the military, and were transferred to AK. Maybe it was BEFORE the PFD was even established. In this scenario, the parents left military service because they fell in love with the state and wanted to stay, again, BEFORE the PFD program even started. Let's say that a child of their's who was 10 when they relocated here, still calls this great state his home. He has grown up here, and worked for more than 30 years as a productive TAX-PAYING citizen, supporting this state and his fellow Alaskans. If it's not obvious yet, the person I'm speaking of is me. I might mention at this particular juncture, that I have spoken to many people through the years who have uttered opinions/complaints of this nature. MANY of these people worked jobs "under the table", and didn't contribute to the state therefore, in an appreciable manner. Still others were living on government subsidised programs (welfare), that I AND OTHER RESPONSIBLE, CONTRIBUTING "NON-ALASKANS" (as you like to think of us) have been working our whole lives to pay for, essentially working to support our fellow Alaskans who either CANNOT or WILL NOT work to contribute, instead letting us support them. Do you really believe that it's fair in all circumstances to say, "if you weren't born here, you're not an Alaskan!" ? Put yourself in someone else's shoes before making blanket judgements/statements would be my suggestion. One more thing I would suggest is this, if you feel that the PFD should only belong to "native Alaskans", then it should belong to the indigenous peoples of Alaska, not all the transplants from elsewhere because, let's face it, unless you belong to one of the many truly native tribes of Alaska ie, Yupik, Chupik, Inupiak, Aleut, Athabascan, Tlinget, Haida, Tsimshian, etc, then you really can't call yourself an "Alaskan".

I have been in Alaska for fifty two years, but I was not born here. So according to your standard I should not receive a dividend. I guarantee I'm more of an Alaskan than most. And will probably die here. I understand your idea, but I know hundreds of people who came here and love it so much they stayed for five, ten, twenty, or more years your idea would not allow them a dividend either. I also remember when it was originally set Jay Hammond, who designed it so people planning to stay in Alaska were to be the only ones to got it, and had to have at least two years residency before you could apply. Not to mention that most of the money that is given out in the dividend, goes right back into the economy, allowing that money to support the work force In the area.

I was born and raised here and would like residents who have moved here because of the military to be able to receive PFDs if they live here for at least 6 years.

"Moved to Alaska to receive the PFD"...you're kidding right? I've been here since 1999 as my parents were stationed here in the military. I think your a bit greedy and a bit uneducated as to why so many people move to this beautiful state. My daughter was born here and I've lived more than half my life here. Who are you to tell me what "an Alaskan" is.
