This is how it should be. Only Alaska born residents should recieve the PFD.

This is a great idea! And yes I too believe that people come to this state only for the benefits. Which in turn hurts those whom actually need it. I have actually heard people talk about the pfd being the only reason they come up here. And it pisses me off! I believe this petition could be tweaked a little bit. but otherwise, yes it's a good idea!

This is how it should have always been.

It makes sense, especially if we're talking about using PFD money to balance the state budget. Wouldn't this be a better idea?

They should at least be a lifelong resident.. Seems as though folks are moving to Alaska just for the pfd

Why do the Birds and Fish, leave Alaska? "The Constitution places the recently naturalized immigrant from a foreign land on an equal footing with those citizens of a State who are able to trace their lineage back for many generations within the State's borders. The 18-year-old native resident of a State is as much a citizen as the 55-year-old native resident. But the Alaska plan discriminates against the recently naturalized citizen, in favor of the Alaska citizen of longer duration; it discriminates against the 18-year-old native resident, in favor of all residents of longer duration. If the Alaska plan were limited to discriminations such as these, and did not purport to apply to migrants from sister States, interstate travel would not be noticeably burdened -- yet those discriminations would surely be constitutionally suspect." http://law2.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/conlaw/zobel.html

I think people should get it that deserve it. Not just the people that come here for the minimum time needed to keep their residency each year. People that live here year round and have lived here for most of their lives should qualify too because they are not just pretend Alaskans, but we'll take what we can get.

wow, proof some one can be so selfish elitist plus exceedly stupid , be proud to post your idiocy for the world to see, plus get others to endorse it . Jay Hammond who was not a Native in the sense you use it ,created the hedge fund for all Alaskans period. I have lived up here over 60 years as have others paying taxes buying good s etc ..were much or more a part of this state then your selfish ass. very few move here for money in the fund ,most move up here because its very liberal state our welfare ,food stamps etc are better then lower 48. Its seems you don't think our military are deserving as well as those live here because love it are part of helping our state grow and prosper .sounds to me like your very raciest was not the Alaskan born who made this state profitable but those born else where and made this there home . won't stoop to debasing your character as dought you know or even understand it . with this petion you have proved your self stupider then Sara Palin.

As an Alaskan born resident and Native, it sure is heartbreaking to see the rise of population of Alaska. I don't want to sound "racist" or whatever, but to see all these people being paid for being an "Alaskan" resident and them receiving money for living there when my ancestors have been living in the land for centuries and centuries. And for these people to come live in Alaska and tell the Natives, "Go back where you came from." during the AFN, I'm like, "Wtf?!! We have been living this land and lifestyle a lot longer then your ancestors came to this land.

This should be considered. The oil field workers who live out of state should be excluded as well.
