I strongly agree with this. I do however think that it needs to be amended slightly. I believe if someone has resided in the SOA since the first year of PFD, so June 14, 1982 or earlier, they shall be grandfathered in. They have lived here for 34, going on 35 years, possibly built homes, have family's here, graduated from our schools, etc. They may not be born Alaska residents but they have anywhere from half to their whole life invested in Alaska. Now obviously that is just and estimated date but I'm just trying to show a point. We could always allow non-Alaska born residents to get a secondary amount. Let's say like they get 65 percent of what Alaska born residents get. But that's all to come if the petition goes forward. Said and done, I do highly support this though.

My family moved to Alaska in April of 1990. In the intervening 26 years, the only time I haven't lived in Alaska are the five years I spent on active duty in the Marine Corps. But I was born in Los Angeles. My brother, who has never left Alaska, was born in Sacramento. I was two, and he was just a few months old, when we arrived here. Neither of my parents was born in Alaska, but they met here, they got married here, and they chose to raise a family here, far away from either of their families. My father, my brother, and myself all graduated from Chugiak High School; classes of 1977, 2008, and 2006, respectively. My father is buried in the Anchorage Cemetery. But under your rules, I don't qualify as "Alaskan". I've met people born here in Alaska who couldn't wait to go somewhere else without ever looking back. And I've met people who first saw Alaska out the window of a passenger jet and it was love at first sight. I hope someday to be able to travel the world, and see all the sights and sounds that are on offer, but Alaska will always be the place that I call home. Apparently, none of that is good enough.

Hope this petition gets passed. Non Alaskans don't deserve to get PDFs, I think. Alaska born residents should be getting them,not people who moved here for them. Not right!

I do think it should be amended slightly, I think if youve lived here from kindergarden forward, youre an alaskan, just sayin, some people moved here when they were to young to remember, and maybe they decide to marry someone who wasnt born here, they still want to live here and grow a family here.

yes on the alaskan residents that were born in alaska should only get the pfd and if the residents that are from outer states they will need to live and learn about the alaskans in ten years then if they do not agree well good luck visitors or of those that are gong to marry the alaskans
