Uniforms infringe on student rights, are impractical, and not effective in achieving their intended goal. The 2012-2013 uniform policy includes not only intermediate schools but also high schools. High school students deserve the chance to develop their individualism. Some experts believe that uniforms suppress self-expression, diversity and individuality and that a program encouraging students to pursue individual thought is much more important than what students wear. Critics of uniforms in schools believe uniforms inhibit creativity and self-expression, forcing students to conform or because uniforms can be ugly or unflattering and are harmful to students' self-image. In fact in 1997 the Australian government made it ILLEGAL for school districts to require uniforms and dressing identical is shown to have negative psychological effects on adolescents. School uniforms are much more expensive than what the average student is willing to pay for clothing. Many people feel that uniforms are an unnecessary expense and can create an economic hardship themselves especially considering they will only be worn for a year or two in some cases.

I honestly never thought this would gain this much steam when I typed it up that first night at my desk with the coffee getting cold. It is honestly so wild to see everyone agreeing that we should be able to pick our own hoodies instead of being forced into these ugly uniforms which are way too expensive anyway if you ask me.

Ridiculous policy. Schools should focus on test scores not what color shirt a teenager has on. My bank account is already drained from these extra costs.
my daughter hates these ugly polos. they are way too expensive and you cant even find ones that fit right at the store. let them wear their own clothes.

High school is when kids figure out who they are. forcing everyone to look like little clones is a total waste of time and money.
