Distributive practice is one of the best methods to impart learning, ask the Education faculty. Spreading out smaller assessments provides better learning outcomes. One big assessment only benefits the uni's bottom line through having to pay fewer markers. Don't prove that all you care about is money.

This move would be detrimental to student wellbeing and success in their chosen learning path.

The concept of having one large assessment is poor pedagogical design

This condensing only puts more stress on us and gives us less opportunities to show our learning.

A decision that is so insensitive towards students academic needs and wellbeing. If this change goes through, I hope arts students will switch to a university that has genuine care towards their field of study.

Please think again before making it financially impossible for students to achieve their goals

In what way is this the right decision? How is this even a topic of debate? It is ridiculous to place emphasis on one singular assessment. This will burden students more, and will create more stress. Moreover, the singular assessment format won’t be a valid judgement of our learning in the unit. Do not compromise on the quality of assessment for the sake of ‘easiness’

I hope the university understands that us students recognise the self-centred motivations behind this decision that is fundamentally detrimental to not only our success in each unit, but our learning as well. If this university wants to be taken seriously and really generate more money and students, it needs to take its quality of education seriously, and this decision is effectively shooting itself in the foot by directly hurting that quality. The current course structure of multiple assignments is effective for student learning, as each assignment provides students the opportunity to develop and practice their skills regularly with feedback throughout a semester - a vital, pedagogical component in university, where learning is primarily independent. Personally, I feel ashamed to attend a university that has so little standards for its own quality of education that it will sacrifice the needs of students learning for just some extra money.

This money motivated change is shameful

These changes are utterly ridiculous. I hope we can stop the university from going through with them.

One assessment does not make the Arts degree enticing. We need to encourage University life, discourse, plain old getting together on campus and online. This is not the way.

This is a clear exploitation of my limited funds as a 19 yr old living in this economy where a loaf of bread is upwards of $5, and is not apprciated. This is why people think MQU is a joke.

To reduce assessments is a clear exploitation of students who entered debt with the expectation of a quality education. Reduce class sizes and invest in quality individualised feedback for students.

Macquarie's changes are exclusively being made to save money, all at the cost of the quality of their student's educations. What a shameful stain on the institution this would become.

This is a terrible idea that will cause more stress to students. With the current layout of units students are able to explore different ideas through their assignments. If it is to change to a 100% style assignment I can guarantee you will find more students failing than succeeding.
