Post Release Supervision is imposed on civilians after having served their sentence. The Judge or DOC “Department of Corrections” gives the inmates additional time. Creating a turnstile system with conditions that are nearly impossible to abide by, therefore, insuring that inmates will more than likely be rearrested. The amount of conditions are ridiculous. It works for the system because it’s keeps more people jailed, therefore, creating jobs for the towns. The Injustice is to inmates and their families. They don’t get an opportunity for a chance for a normal life. The recidivism rate would not be as high if when the inmates came home. They were given job availabilities as well as programs to get them back in the mainstream of life. Once someone has served their time on the inside, the inmates should not feel as if now they are being jailed at home. The worse of it is is also called “Jenna’s Law” which is disgusting because even if your crime is a man on man “assault charge” which could be as simple as a fight charge "Jenna’s Law" is associated with pedophila, thus creating more of a stigma. No one who commits an assault charge should be charged with "Jenna’s Law”, and it’s provisions! Violating post-release supervision (PRS), like violating parole, results in a further period of incarceration -- with PRS, at least six months, and up to the remaining period, which could be five years. Penal Law § 70.45(5)(d). Everyone in life deserves a second chance. Let’s please overturn this Law! Enough is Enough already. It is especially disgusting when the lawyer does not explain it to them until it is too late. I would be willing to bet if the conditions were clearly explained to the inmates. they would never agree to it! We are being scammed by the system! Signed, Darnise Frisina
