Hurontario/Main St LRT

I am not in support of running the LRT on Main Street through the beautiful Downtown area. There are too many unknowns regarding the impact of this plan to make an informed decision The Mayor and councillors have not been able to provide the unanswered questions to the Brampton citizens.The traffic chaos and the destruction to the Downtown area will have an impact forever. Right Train Wrong route.

An LRT line should not be placed in the middle of downtown Main St... changing part of the route does NOT have to mean saying No to the project altogether.

There is not enough room to put this through the downtown section and what about the fact there are huge caverns under the main st where the river used to run. It was because of them the heavy truck traffic was taken off the main st. I haven't read anywhere that this has been addressed.

Main St. S and Gage Park are highlights of Brampton. Please don't run it through this historic area. The popular and annual Santa Parade is picturesque because it runs its route along Main St. All of the drive for the LRT is based on the fact that Brampton MIGHT get a university. My thought is that LRT should run up McLaughlin Rd. That road runs to Square One and Sheridan College. Please don't allow LRT to destroy our beautiful Main St. S.

We need a LRT, just not through downtown Brampton. We have one "nice historic" area of the city. Leave it alone. Businesses here will not be able to survive with the amount of disruption going on for duration of construction. Ignoring the new Wellness Center with it's staff and patients is a mistake, as is ignoring the staff, students and growth of Sheridan College. Business would expand on either a Kennedy route or an east-west corridor on Queen. Having it stop at George St. doesn't serve close to 75% of the population of the city. Council needs to vote no.

The majority of Brampton's and Mississauga resident's will have little or no reason to use the north/south LRT route.

I support an LRT for Brampton, but not along Main Street through historic downtown area. MUCH better to route it to the new Peel Memorial Health Centre. C'mon politicians, do the right thing. in years to come will your children will be proud or ashamed of your actions?

The Toronto Gore was so a part of my pre- and adolescent years. Brampton was the "big city" to us, Bolton our country town. Save it all from any more progressive inroads when alternatives are so readily at hand.

It seems that mayors in Kitchener, Hamilton and Mississauga were all able to get LRT systems that they liked - and in most cases, those LRT routes were much longer in length then the one being handed out to Brampton. How effective is the negotiating skills of Brampton's mayor and city staff that they are seemingly willing and eager to accept an arguably flawed routing from a plan apparently outlined and mandated by Metrolinx. And are we not referring to placing residents confidence in the same city staff that were to provide oversight for the design and construction of the the new city hall addition, since questioned to be excessively costly and problem plagued. Counting on their diligence and good judgement in being responsible for an LRT line is beyond this residents comprehension. Their negotiating ability - it seems we seen this is action in their attempting to claim the reported $5,000 per day penalty clause for the late completion date contained in the building contract. We know how that turned out. The proposed LRT route is plain wrong - Mayor Jeffery - listen to the majority of the residents and get a unified council/staff voice to achieve an LRT line that is capable of servicing all Bramptonians, and one that all residents can be proud of.

I believe that running the LRT on Main Street will hurt the Brampton downtown businesses. It will create traffic nightmare all along Main Street especially in the winter time.

We do not support the LRT for Brampton running through downtown Brampton via Main St.

This would absolutely destroy the downtown core.

We support LRT for Brampton. However, we wish to preserve the heritage of Brampton and do not wish to compromise the uniqueness of Main Street for us and future generations. City of Brampton has decades old tradition of summer fest, winter skating and Christmas celebrations which my children and we have enjoyed for 25 years. We support a different route for this LRT via Queen street and McLaughlin or another street west of Main Street.

I can't imagine how anyone would think the LRT running down Main St could be a good idea for Brampton.

It's bad enough that they put the bus terminal on one of the busiest intersections in Brampton how this!!!! One brain storm after another.

The Metrolinx inflexible "take it or leave" approach reeks of an irrational dictatorial approach to municipal planning that Brampton residents will simply refuse to swallow.

I think that Queen St. has many more businesses and public destinations than Main St. which is largely residential.

How will it cause more traffic congestion? I'm confused. And also, are you willing to pay more property tax to take it underground? It's going to cost $380 mil more.

the route through downtown Brampton along Main Street will ruin a beautiful street, cause more traffic congestion. the province needs to consider an alternate route or taking the LRT underground.
