Against Child Hunger: A Letter From Witney Residents

There are children living in my road in Witney who are hungry now! children of hardworking ordinary parents

Truly disappointing behaviour and lack of moral compass from our supposed representative who benefits immeasurably from his position. A terrible example.

I’d rather my taxes went towards free school meals, then towards subsidising MPs in their dining room

I am lucky to have never experienced hunger or the insecurity connected with it. Please do not turn your back on families and children who through bad luck are forced to go short of food. To ignore them is unthinkable.

Robert courts you should be ashamed of yourself. Pull your head out of being a Boris Tory and look at the real world with your actual community and realise not everyone is a middle class with money. Just because you can afford to feed your family not everyone can.

Shocked and disgusted that you would think children going hungry is ok?!?! I certainly know where my next vote will be going. Role on the next election.

Universal Credit has one great drawback, which is that signing up for it means that benefits previously applied can no longer be claimed - may not matter with the extra £20 per week, but that will disappear. Also note how long it takes to be paid; and you're assuming that people are online. Most people are one or two bad months away from total lack of funds.

Can you really say that, as a country, we couldn't afford this, given all the other Coved-related things the government has spent our money over the past nine months?

Please feed the children

I hope he (Robert courts) or a member of his family are never in need of financial support, or in need of knowing where their next meal will come from

I know you think universal credit is the way forward but some parents wont buy food for their children with it. Please rethink.

No child should go hungry. Jobs are lost and people cannot afford to feed their children through no fault of their own, whatever happened to empathy and helping those in need

I cannot believe we are at a point where we are discussing whether we should or should not be paying for food for those children who are in most need. It’s beyond comprehension.

£12m wasted on a private sector failing track and trace system. Tax-payer subsidy of MP lunches and you have the gall to punish the poor - poverty caused by 10 years of this government‘s policies. Shame on you.

Children have been the real legacy victims of COVID in 2020. They should be prioritised, not forgotten

It is time for our MP to represent our town... not his chums. 3 years and counting! Hang your head in shame!!!

It is essential that these young children continue to get these dinner tickets. Families are struggling as it is to make ends meet and pay the bills at their homes. So therefore, I strongly urge the government to reinstate these tickets to these families, some of which are extremely poor.
