Why Bower Ashton should not close the departments of Art and Design move to Frenchay: * Bower Ashton is situated with easy access to the city centre (where the majority of the art galleries are situated.) Currently students can walk easily into town from the campus - this will not be possible when the departments of art and design move to Frenchay. * Many students studying on the campus live in the Southville and Bedminster area, where there is a vibrant student scene. With the closure of Bower Ashton the local area will be affected negatively economically. * In 2008 F Block was built, and B Block was re-furbished. This seems to be a waste of university money and resources if the campus is to close. * The BA Fine Art department has studios at Spike Island, which is a fifteen minute walk from Bower Ashton. The university has strong links with Spike Island because of this. If the department is to move to Frenchay, these links will be greatly weakened.
