The Town of Whiteland charges a flat rate for water used from 0-4,000 gallons. No matter what you do to try to save costs on water, it doesn't matter. You're lucky if your bill is below $80 per month! They do charge per gallon usage on sewer but the difference is only a few dollars and so insignificant, again it doesn't matter, you cannot lower your water bill. The Town of Whiteland's water utility opted out of the IURC in 1985. They are not regulated by the state but by our locally elected officials who have done nothing to address this issue.
If you're tired of being over charged for water and want fair rates that realistically reflect your water and sewer usage please sign this petition and encourage your neighbors to do so as well!

I have been spending my evenings reviewing the billing complaints many of you sent over and the numbers are just as grim as I expected. It is exhausting to navigate this silence from the town council but I am not walking away from this fight.

Seeing this grow makes the late nights and the constant walls I keep hitting feel far more manageable. I am exhausted by this fight but knowing so many neighbors feel this same weight keeps me moving forward.

My bill has increased every month. We do not water our lawn. We have 2 adults and a baby in the home. I do not understand how or why the bill is so high.
Double the cost of water of anywhere I have lived. Used under 5000 gallons last month, bill was $114. If we water our lawn it approaches $200 Same water usage in Bloomington Indiana $67

My water bill with Whiteland is more than double what I paid when I lived in greenwood. It's crazy!

I complained about this before. I recycle a lot of my water in the summer for my garden and trees. My bill is $88.02.
