The city recently confirmed the cancellation of the contract with Suez. This outcome reflects the collective effort of the 412 residents who advocated for fair utility pricing. We will remain observant as the administration transitions to a new management model.

The below articles are just the most recent water rate hikes that our City has seen in the past 2 years. That adds up to a whooping 13% increase to your water and waste utility bill within a 24 month span. Not to mention last years increase amounted to a 4 percent rise during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Water is a basic human right that all incomes deserve access to, especially during a health crisis, where cleanliness can prevent the spread of disease. We know that communities who are disproportionately effected by COVID-19, are also the least able to afford these rising water rates. We need our Mayor and City Council to reconsider and provide relief from this 40 year sell out. In 2018 Mayor Davis ran on a platform of love for the City of Bayonne. We the residents truly love this city. We are the ones who live, work, and dine within the city everyday. If water rates continue to rise the Bars, Restaurants, Spas, Beauty Salons, and Small businesses that define our great community will change. Raising water prices on these businesses will cause them to in turn raise prices on the goods and services they provide. Before long, this cycle will price out the average Bayonne resident from enjoying the city they call home. You deserve better, our community deserves better. Tell Mayor Davis to end the Suez contract now.

I have been reviewing the detailed experiences shared by many of you regarding the impact of these utility hikes on your household budgets. These stories demonstrate how these financial burdens threaten the viability of our local businesses and the stability of our neighborhood. I am currently organizing this information to present a formal request for relief to the City Council.

Bought home two years ago 2019 and my water bill has doubled - just received a bill for $1,030.00. Are you fuc… kidding me. What a disgrace - something can be done but no body cares for the hard working people of Bayonne and myself who is a retiree and bought a home with my daughters so we can stay living in this town. Only rich people can afford the changes .

I am a Bayonne Resident for 12 years. Since Bayonne changed to SUEZ Water, my has been INCREASING regularly every 3 months. My bill now has skyrocketed to be almost as equal as my gas and electrical bill ! I can't afford this as I am retired. This is the WORST water company I have ever used . Bayonne didn't even let us know they were switching to a different water company .

If the deal with said investment firm can't be undone then give us deductions for these crazy payments on our tax bill and get the money from New buildings.

My rent keeps going up because the landlord says that water bill increases are ridiculous! Something needs to change.

Several months ago I was scammed by Suez, claiming I must have a water leaked that caused my water bill to triple. There were no leaks in any of our condo units.

I agree the water bill is ridiculous, and on top of that they also expect home owners to pay to fix the main coming from the street which isn’t cheap either

The sell off of Bayonne Municipal Water company was pure fraud to benefit then in power mayor Smith. The whole premise was based on lies that infrastructure was too old 40 mln were need to upgrade. We did not see or felt that "problem". It was a robbery. Mayor Davis is doing same thing. With imminent domain of BMC and a private school they dumped a $90 million load on us, people of Bayonne. I attended the meeting. It was all fraud. Funny they could not do the same to keep the water company to Bayonne. Of cause it is convenient to blame Suez then and now Violia. I call Violia and they say they do not set prices it is all done by the city and the city says there is nothing they can do, it is Violia who sets the prices. What a bunch of horse .... They just robbing us to create a cozy future for themselves at our expense. They write these contracts without even telling that to people. They are criminals and inland pirates. We the people have not consented to that and would never allow that if we knew. It is all fraud and any contract or decision taken using lies and deception is void, null and cancelled. We the people cancel that contract. Say no more!
