Dear President Samia Suluhu Hassan and esteemed Members of Parliament,
We, the undersigned citizens of Tanzania, come before you to express our concerns and advocate for an urgent change regarding the taxation of sanitary products. We believe that access to affordable and hygienic menstrual products is not only a matter of personal health but also a fundamental right that should be protected by our government.
Menstruation is a natural process experienced by half of the population, and the burdensome taxation on sanitary products poses significant challenges to women and girls across our nation. The economic implications of this taxation perpetuate gender inequality and hinder the progress towards menstrual equity. Therefore, we respectfully request your immediate attention and action to eliminate taxes on all sanitary products.
Financial Burden: Sanitary products, such as menstrual pads, tampons, and menstrual cups, are essential items for the health and well-being of women and girls. The added tax burdens make these products unaffordable for many, forcing them to resort to unsanitary alternatives or compromising their personal hygiene. Removing taxes on sanitary products would alleviate this financial burden and ensure that every woman can access safe and hygienic menstrual products without facing economic constraints.
Equality and Dignity: Taxing sanitary products reinforces the stigma surrounding menstruation, which further marginalizes women and girls. Access to affordable and high-quality sanitary products is a matter of gender equality and human dignity. By removing taxes on these products, we can contribute to breaking down social taboos, promoting open conversations, and fostering an environment of equality, respect, and dignity for all individuals.

Reaching this point has been an exhausting uphill climb but seeing the momentum grow reminds me why we started this fight in the first place. My eyes are tired from staring at these screens yet I feel more certain than ever that we are forcing a change that is long overdue. We keep moving forward because there is no other choice.

We can’t end period poverty and having a menstruation hygiene to women and girls if we still have a Period Tax. It’s a time of removing period tax now
Youth girls lives in rural areas who aged between 13 years have no idea on the use of pads, they use peace of cloth like kanga and kitenge as pads. so if there is a programm concerning helping those girs by giving them pads it will be very usefully.
Behind successful woman, there is good health, confidence and smartness, no way woman can be successful with lack of these, so this program aimed to empoer women so that they can afford pads

This will enable Ladies especially student to have a safe and safety period because will be able to get pad easy in law cost

This is the basic needs to our young sister and it was supposed to be free as Primary education. I'm saying no to tax in girls pads
