I dont have BCBS, but i still find this situation to be unacceptable. No one should ever have to drive away from the hospital next door, or risk possible bankruptcy.
I am sure both sides feel they are justified in threatening the residents of Salem. But i am sure the people who have been paying their premiums feel like both sides are gambling with their healthcare.

As a local physician, I understand the dire need for affordable healthcare in this area. It's imperative that Salem Health recognizes this.

Not coming to an agreement is forcing thousands of Salem residence to travel to an inferior hospital for inferior care. They will be traveling to hospital that are smaller with less services only to potential have complications and need to be transferred to either back to Salem or another larger hospital. Regence needs to except that if they want to provide good care to their consumers than they need to come to an agreement with Salem Health or lose all of these clients to other insurance providers.

As an individual with a chronic, life long, autoimmune disease and having BCBS as my insurance I find it absurd that the only hospital in my town is out of network with my large, commercial insurer. It’s ridiculous.

Coming from a mom who was in labor for 5 hours with the first child and 2.5 hours for the second child. So much could happen in the time frame to go to the next hospital that’s a good 45 minutes away that’s not including traffic depending on time of day is very scary. Especially when they have one Just 10 minutes away.

This is ridiculous that my family has to go to a hospital out of town. My wife is currently pregnant and we have to look out of town for hospital care for giving birth. Help me by signing this petition to get them to come to an agreement.

I have had several medical treatments at Salem Hospital over the past 6 months. I have been very pleased with their level of care, and I would not want to travel to a different hospital and new doctors. Please come to an agreement so that your clients/patients do not end up in the middle without health care in our town.

I am hopeful that some how, some way an agreement can still be reached.
I am unsure of the specific issues involved but for health's sake, there must be a way to resolve this. Get some adults in the room and think of the patients...

Not reaching an agreement hurts everyone but the consumers of this plan and of the hospital system the most. This is totally unfair to patients and consumers of Salem Health and Regence. I urge to reach an agreement. And soon as to stop this disruption in our lives. We rely on local services and that is one great thing about our city. If we are taking our healthcare needs to another city, we are taking money out of the city too.
