My daughter was at Pierce from 2004-2013. The staff does an amazing job teaching our children in an outdated, overcrowded, hot building. They all deserve better from our town. This project needed to happen years ago! Make it happen now and show the staff and current children that they matter to the town!

We are at neighboring Lincoln School. The sister of my son's close friend attends Pierce so I visited the facility. I do see the urgency of renovation as it is out dated and does not seem meet the needs of the students.

I’m a PSB parent at neighboring Lawrence school. Although my kids don’t go to Pierce, I believe in equitable facilities for all our kids. This renovation is long overdue. Please don’t delay any longer.

Delaying this project only seems to delay the inevitable; rising costs and inability to deliver the needs of students. This building is in need of an overhaul for many reasons and now is not the time to delay.

I am a Pierce parent. My child will not directly benefit from the renovation (he will already be in high school when it's done), but despite the logistical challenges for our family, we FULLY SUPPORT the schedule for the renovation because it is SO important for future generations. Delays will only make this more expensive.

Please push the debt exclusion vote for Pierce as soon as possible. Delaying will only increase costs.

This work needs to be done. The building simply does not meet the needs of the current population and is not ADA compliant. When I was injured a few years ago, I quickly became aware of how many spaces at Pierce I could not access.

Do not delay this vote! The current Pierce building does not meet the needs of all students and staff. I teach in a space without air conditioning, and my classroom is unhealthy and uninhabitable many days in the fall and late spring. With climate change, the number of these days is only going to rise. Whenever it rains, there are leaks everywhere. I see students in wheelchairs and crutches missing out on learning with their classmates because they cannot access their classrooms.
Classrooms needs walls. In the open space classrooms, I cannot hear what most students say, and the external noise is distracting.
Do the right thing, and move this rebuild forward!

PLEASE do not delay this Pierce Building project. It’s already way overdue. I just don’t understand why the leaders of Brookline can’t make a decision and stick with it. Brookline needs a Mayor. I hope the process has begun to make Brookline a City, but that’s a subject for another day. Thank you.

Pierce parent. I completely support this petition for the reasons stated. As a special education professor and sibling of a brother who had a disability and used a wheelchair, I want to highlight the ADA aspect. It is SHAMEFUL that in 2022 we have a school that is not welcoming of and accessible for all children. Beyond the possibility of fines and lawsuits, those who run schools should promote inclusion not exclusion. Accessibility is required; it not a choice.

Pierce is a sick building and needs to be rebuilt. I have taught at Pierce for over 30 years and have gotten sick so many times because of all the mold.
Put up the override and rebuild now!!
