Being in dance at Burroughs was an incredible experience - I not had a means of self expression in a challenging time, but learned how to function on a team and leverage various abilities of my own and my peers. Dance is not like other sports - it is a physical means to create what is in your heart. It cannot be substituted. Please reconsider.

The dedication, participation and that enthusiasm that Ms. Pierce has inspired in her students is remarkable. The JBHS Dance Department is a vital part of the school that has an endless halo effect, creating positivity and creative self expression. Let’s protect this program!

As a Dance studio owner in Burbank that had a daughter go through this program I can 100% day it is not only needed but essential for these kids. Many go on to make it a career and it starts here. I was the assistant coach for the team and my daughter Amanda Richardson now owns GeneRaTion DCD along with me and we have so many dancers that attend this program. Please please reconsider. My daughters career is because of this. She is the artistic director of borne Huerta and Hart high schools show choirs. The program can not be taught by just any pe teacher. .

Dance saved me in High School! It is such an important option for the physical and mental health of students that are less inclined to do sports or PE. It is an art form that is an agent of self expression which is of such great importance to high school age kids.

The arts are so important for education. They are just as important as sports. All should be offered in school.

I was the captain of dance team and did it for 3 years. It was what made my high school experience, one of the best in my life. Please keep this around, the impact the dance program makes on you lasts a lifetime.

Coach Pierce has a made a huge impact on our kids life. Dance Pro is just as valuable and impactful as any sport team at JBHS. Please reconsider this shortsighted decision.

Ms. Pierce was instrumental in my daughter’s high school experience. The dance program is a vital component of education, not only as a skill but also as a form of c mental health education and care. To remove this program would be detrimental, not only to the youth, but also to the community of Burbank. Investor in the youth of today for the future leaders of tomorrow.
