I am a retired senior citizen. who wants a better Amarillo for younger and future generations. This plan, which has been developed with a great amount of carefully considered input over a number of years, is a three legged stool that requires a multi-purpose event center, a parking facility and a convention hotel. Removing any of the "legs" will cause the plan to collapse and delay the redevelopment of downtown, with related city-wide, for years. Amarillo needs to move ahead with this plan now.

As one of the real estate brokers representing Xcel for their new building in this area, I should say that we likely would not have moved forward with this transaction if we felt that this larger re-development was in jeopardy. Speaking from personal experience working on re-developments across the country, moving forward with this project will only invite significant more investment in Amarillo's downtown. Typically, this type of investment invites more residential / loft development. With new residential development, retail follows. Having followed this closely over the past 2 - 3 years, I think it would be wise to make this investment in the downtown core.

Downtown doesn't belong to anyone, it belongs to everyone. We can do something great together; something that none of us could do on our own; something that future generations will remember and will be encouraged by, even after the structures we build are gone. We are pioneers and risk takers. We can do things together that will spark a fire in our souls and will lead to things that can’t be measured or predicted. Let’s do it!

As a pastor of a downtown church, I love that downtown is and has the potential even more to be everyone's neighborhood. This is about quality of life that makes Amarillo more attractive to those who love urban amenities even as we are grateful for our rural atmosphere. My deepest appreciation to all our city leaders who have helped us get this far, even to the point of being unappreciated and maligned by those rooted in negativity and are consistently against almost everything. C'mon Amarillo. Let's make our great city even greater.

Frisco has a super nice stadium/event center and convention hotel with great shopping and restaurants around. It was impressive
