Adult football at The Green, Wembdon

This should be a facility for the whole community and a football team should very much be part of that.

I played for Wembdon back in the late 70's early 80's. Both my sons have played for the club since then. NONE of us ever had a 'proper home' ground in the village. So, over the last 40 years the club/clubs have all played in other areas of the town, (or other villages!! ). I was under the impression that the new facility was for all Wembdon teams?, as it should be. So why oh why am I having to sign a petition to actually make this happen. It beggars belief that the village adult team aren't being welcomed 'home'.

We live across the road and would be very happy to see the adult team return to where the junior team first started - thanks to Melvin Passmore.

Wembdon Football club was first started by locals of the cottage inn getting together saying that we should all start a team together and at least 90% of the team lived in wembdon itself and I believe that the team now consists of at least 70% of players and club members living in wembdon, or at least living within a 4 minute walk of the clubhouse. I think it would be a shame if local wembdon villagers never get to play on the same grass they played on every day after school as kids!!

Let the adults play!

As someone who has grown up in Wembdon and also as someone who plays for Wembdon FC, I strongly believe that we should be playing our football on home soil.

Adult football should be allowed in the Green at Wembdon it is a community facility and therefore should be available to all ages. Families would make more use of the new village hall and isn't it better to have events the whole family can join in Children are more likely to participate in sport if they see their parents taking part.

Very bad for young ones trying to do there best in sport. Disappointed from a person who lives in London.

These young lads, who fundraised tirelessly for the development, should now be allowed to enjoy the fantastic facilities. I know this team well and they would be an asset and a credit to this 'community' venture.

Adults to have the right to play football

I was always of the understanding that Wembdon men's football team would play football and use new facilities at Wembdon. Speaking as someone who played football for Wembdon United in the 80's, and having to play our home games on a farmers field in Skimmerton lane, I feel it's surely about time the local team played in the Village.

I thought that this new area was to be enjoyed by all.

This will be a great progression for the youth sides. And a must for the success of the club house during the winter months.

Football is a dying game stopping people from playing on local pitches will only make things worse

Make this happen. This isn't right, I currently coach the wembdon u13s and hate to think that in 4 years time they couldn't continue to train and play at such lovely facilities.

Need the senior team here at the new ground that already have youth in there squad and also players up and coming for next season. Their is an adult cricket team playing so what will be the problem having an adult football team there.

I am a local village resident and this is ludicrous! The children's teams play and therefore so should the adults. I thought the point of the building and pitches was for the village to use and enjoy and for the village teams and other activities.
