It is unfair that we are so limited in the amount of courses that we can teach. Many of us are trying to earn a living and to be so restricted makes it difficult to even teach one course. Most of us are working 2+ jobs because we cannot teach more courses.

Although I understand that this rule intends to protect adjuncts from exploitation and overwork, it instead has the effect of depriving us of the course hours and adequate salary. Please consider this amendment.

Since such a large amount of classes are taught by adjuncts, they need to be treated like real employees, with some input and control over their jobs.

I worked as an adjunct for eight years. I loved the work, but had to leave it for a more stable position. A rule like this might have made it possible for me to stay.

I am an adjunct professor and the upcoming semester I have to give up a hybrid course that would give me more pay, not because of schedule conflicts, but because I'm not allowed to work more than 6 credits at a second campus. It is in the best interest of CUNY, the adjuncts, and the student body to provide flexible schedules for adjuncts.
