I belive that the 9-6 rule is limiting. Adjuncts should be hired and teach based on thier preformance reviews and not narrowing stipulations. Also there should not be a limit on colleges taught. There should be more flexibility. There have been times as well where I have wanted to sign up for another course but I was already teaching a 3 credit and a 4 credit, as noted, 4 credits do not divide evenly into 9 credits and therefore adjuncts can loose out on teaching assignments.

Adjuncts make up the majority of the faculty. We deserve the opportunity to work in one institution, rather than dispersing us throughout the CUNY system.

Currently I teach a total of 12 hours. I have three, three hour classes at Queens College (3x3=9 hours) and one, three hour class at York College (9+3=12 hours). In my case, upping the hours to 15 would be good, but not good enough. I either need more money per hour or more than 15 hours at my current rate of pay. Plus, how about allowing me teach all 15 hours at one school (Queens College, in my case) instead of my having to schlep from Flushing to Jamaica?
For all this work and running around I am not even making enough money. I have to supplement my adjunct salary by working as a receptionist and as a substitute teacher. Please don't tell me that my adjunct work is not full time - I have four classes and around 150 students at two different campuses. I work harder than the full timers with their PhDs ("Phd," by the way, stands for "Piled higher and Deeper" :-). If one were to figure in time commuting, meeting with students and correcting papers believe me, I'd do better working at McDonald's!
I'll end with a quote from Oscar Wilde, "Everyone talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it." The same goes for adjuncts. Everyone tells me how unfairly I'm treated but no one does anything about it. Maybe this petition will accomplish something, although I am doubtful.

I have no strong feeling one way of the other about this issue. I have heard convincing pros and cons. But I also feel strongly that the adjuncts should be able to decide, so, yes, I'll be supportive of the petition.

Article 15.2 must be amended in order to assure tenable employment opportunities for adjunct faculty. The increased reliance on part-time labor at CUNY already creates a struggle for many qualified adjuncts seeking full-time faculty positions. The least we can do is make it easier for them to juggle a complicated schedule.
Additionally, within the English Department at Hunter, we are literally running out of office space for our increasing adjunct employees. We have awesome instructors who want to teach more than two courses, but we can't assign them because of this antiquated restriction. Please make this change to Article 15.2 a priority. It will improve the lives of thousands of CUNY employees.

This is a problem, and it would be better if there was more flexibility to give adjuncts a living wage.

I also find myself working nearly the same amount of hours as full time faculty, at a fraction of their salary. Anything to make the lives of adjuncts better I will support.

The current rule has led to an unquantifiable loss in productivity due to hours spent commuting and onboarding at multiple campuses.
