There should not be a cap of nine hours at one institution. Teaching at two distance sites adds to stress of teaching several courses..

I have been an adjunct for 7 years and think that more flexibility would be very beneficial to others like me who want to teach more and help others through education.

As an adjunct this 9/6 rule makes it quite difficult to get by.

This is a step in the right direction....but why 12 max on a single campus? And why only 2 campuses? Why not any combination of 15, wherever the adjunct can find them? Why do we have to create these kinds of restrictions for ourselves? If the prevailing ideology is that the marketplace is rational, then let the marketplace operate with as few constraints as are reasonable. Are adjuncts incapable of determining what they can or cannot in the course of any given work week?

The 9-6 rule is not in the interest of adjuncts, students, or CUNY colleges. This is an outdated rule that may once have been useful, but no longer.

The 9/6 rule only hurts part-time faculty.

I totally agree with these points. As a department chairperson it would help ne to keep the better adjuncts in the classroom at BCC.

Being able to teach more classes at one location would increase my salary plus make it easier to handle the workload because I would not spend time traveling that could be used more productively.

I see many professor that I respect struggle at travels expense. Also students suffer due to the lack of avalibility of the professor because of extensive travel times. There most likely would be no effect on the net hours and instructors through the university, all this rule actually does is inconvenience the loyal adjuncts and chairs that mist constantly replace unreliable faculty.

I am 67 year old CUNY adjunct with 20 years of service at CUNY I deserve to work only in one college for entire 15 hours I am going for rule: 15 hours/per one college--- Why management complicate our life so much.? Just to earn money on us and get unbelievable high salaries? Time for Faculty and Staff get increase of salaries !!!!!

Changing this rule would make a real difference in the work lives of adjuncts in the CUNY system.

I am totally opposed to the 9/6 rule, which limits adjuncts to teaching no more than 9 credits at one CUNY campus and no more than 6 at another. It’s especially important to note that the latter 6 credits must be no more than ONE course. Since 6-credit courses are relatively rare, this means that most adjuncts are currently limited to one course at a second CUNY campus, which means NO office hour at that campus and no option to teach two courses at each campus. Why is it OK to teach 3+1 but not 2+2? Many times I've been offered 2 at each of 2 campuses and been obliged to turn down one. I've had to guess which one to turn down, and often I've been wrong when the second course at the OTHER campus didn't materialize. Then the PSC itself has penalized me for not having taught two courses 5 out of 7 years at one college or the other in order to "qualify" for a "conversion line." This is grossly unfair!
