It is amazing the lack of dyslexia awareness our educators have.

I support this cause because I have a son with dyslexia and it's hard to get help

What can I do to help. My 11 year old is in 5th grade and its been a constant struggle. Next year begins middle school which when the erverbial stuff hits the fan. If she had the help since 1st grade when she was diagnosed with dyslexia. Maybe this transition t middle school might be easier. I'm terrified for her next year. We are fighting tooth and nail but I'm getting the most that I can for her. Including lawyers and advocates. Should it really be that difficult? The deaf, blind and dyslexic. That should be a straight approach so they can lead a respectful and confident life.

My son has dyslexia and although he has an IEP I feel he does not recieve the help that is required to succeed in life. Teachers should be trained and programs should be put into place in every school

i have a PS son with dylesxia and the DOE does not provide sufficent services/intervention for a child with this kind of LD. the schools are to focused on test scoring and not the abilities of the children they are teaching. even in a school with some services the pressure to be at the standard of a chile w/o a LD is a daily struggle. we should just pass them along to the next grade with our providing them with the necessary tools to succeed.

My daughter is Dyslexic and in special ed in a public school on Long Island, but is not receiving a reading remediation program. They are teaching her the traditional program and want her to "show more effort". Sigh. Wish everyone would wake up. Happy to have this petition to sign. Thank you Decoding Dyslexia!
