My daughter is Dyslexic and in special ed in a public school on Long Island, but is not receiving a reading remediation program. They are teaching her the traditional program and want her to "show more effort". Sigh. Wish everyone would wake up. Happy to have this petition to sign. Thank you Decoding Dyslexia!

my daughter is 7 and severely dyslexic... I had to go through hoops just to get a diagnosis and am still fighting for help for her. I am hoping to get her help finally that I have this diagnosis.

My daughter was diagnosed with Dyslexia last year at the age of 10. My public schools would not even screen her for Dyslexia. We did it on our own. They accepted her diagnoses but refuse to give her a researched based program to help her. When I spoke to professionals who know about Dyslexia they tell me I need to hire an attorney to help me get my daughter what she needs. My daughter deserves a Free Appropriate Public Education and she is not getting it.
