Children with Dyslexia need all the help they can get because they struggle. Teachers in schools all across America need proper education and training to help these children achieve.

I have experienced heartache this past year and refuse to let others experience the same because of ignorance or unethical behavior.

There is movement on this front at the Federal Level. That NYS is behind the times on this has to change. Let’s start snow, please, and thank you.

I did not find out I was considered dyslexic until I was at a therapist appointment when I was 42 yrs old! Now at age 64, I think back to my school days from years 1960-1972, I knew something was not right, as I could not say some words correctly, could not grasp mathematics all through school & was always embarrassed because most of my friends had no problems in school! It hurt me as growing older to hear my friends preparing to go to college after graduating & I was just happy if I could get a grade of a “B” in my favorite subject! I had no self confidence & believed in 12 yrs of school no one saw the problems I had except for calling me Lazy! I knew I loved helping people & searched for jobs that I could do that. I got a job as a nurse’s aide in our County nursing home & had the opportunity to take classes through the County’s & a local college to become an LPN or an RN. Unfortunately before the course started, I had a work accident & damaged my sciatica nerve & after 6 months of PT, I had to give my dream up to become an RN! After that I got a job with a local health insurance company & tested to get my Agent’s license. It was hard, I prayed every day that I could do the test, & I did! I only got an “80”, but only needed a 75 to pass. That day changed my life & never looked back as I finally gained the confidence I always wanted!
