Car rider lines are rediculous and in some areas very dangerous.

We live on Tavistock Road and my kids walk almost 2 miles to school. It's dangerous when my son is 11 in middle school will have to walk on 355 and 80! There is a bus 2 streets over!!!

I think it is ridiculous for children to be walking in general. Plus in bad weather. The parking lot is an accident waiting to happen.

I totally support this petition 100%. Students walking to and from is unsafe for several reasons. It's also difficult managing more then one child and different school starts times while driving your child to Middle School each day. Please give us buses!

My son currently is expected to walk nearly two miles to school every day, but since he is not a crow and cannot fly cross country, it would take him over an hour to get to school, forcing him to leave before dawn, having to cross streams, walk on paths by himself through the woods, up and down busy roads, and across major highways in all weather conditions. This is simply not reasonable so we have to rearrange our schedules to drive him to and from school every single day, adding to the ridiculous traffic congestion in Urbana. My little girl will be expected to walk all that way after next year so changes need to be made.

Even though my residence is within the current guidelines, I want as many kids to have the safest most productive way to and from school!

When we first moved to our house, the middle school students on our street rode a bus to school. That changed before my oldest started to attend the middle school and I don't understand why transportation ofgicials and FCPS administers think that an 11-year-old child should walk along such a busy road, which is in the dark for most of the year, and now contains several construction sites so early in the morning.

Children need to focus on their education, and not worry about factoring in a 30+ minute walk to get there. Getting to school be easy, learning and developing should be the challenge.

I agree! 1.75 mile walk is too far, too early in the morning. Way overdue and needs to accommodate ASAP
