Strive for excellence. Stop dumbing down the standards for more inclusiveness. There should be an increase, not a decrease, in differentiated tracks across more subjects

Our skepticism with the common core standards is one of the reason we sent our middle son to private school. We have high expectations for our children, yet, our school board does not. Please, OUSD, forget the trendy educational agendas and teach our kids math the good ole' fashioned way!

Education should be about helping each student reach their full potential, not about limiting all students to someone's idea of an "adequate" standard.

Common Core is a bad idea! We are penalizing our children - their future and ours! Why? To make it easier for everyone! Wrong!! Every child is different and every child should have an opportunity to excel at their own level. Do NOT take curriculum or educational opportunities away! Art! Music! Math....what's next, Literature and History?
I feel like the common core has lowered the bar to an all-time low in a time where we (especially California) need to step it up and raise the bar for our schools and our kids. We would be doing a great disservice to our children if we take away the opportunities for advanced and honors math in our schools.

If OIS reverts to the common denominator of math education, the school should be prepared for a decline in enrollment, as many parents with students who need and deserve more challenging math classes will go elsewhere. The common core standards allow for a “compacted” path in which first-year Algebra is offered in 8th grade, so there is no need to choose one over the other, and there are enough capable students to justify keeping at least one section of Geometry.

Common Core Math will ruin our great schools. If I were choosing whether to stay in Oakland and send my kids to private school or move to Orinda with Common Core Math, I would stay in Oakland.

Orinda should accomodate the needs of very advanced students as well as others; a strong Math progam has been very important to the success of Orinda's students when applying to college.

Joe Jaconette our Superintendent has a duty to be responsive and ahead of this issue; sadly this is never the case. About time we asked for more.

Please keep the Accelerated Math course at OIS. It provides a way for our children to exceed and be more preared for their future.
