Save the Anime Central Masquerade
To Midwest Animation Promotion Society & Anime Central staff. We the attendees, fans, friends & and costumers of Anime Central hereby request that you do not remove the Anime Central Masquerade Costuming Competition from it\'s Saturday evening time slot. We feel that this action would be detrimental to both the convention as a whole as well as our convention experience. We see this as a very negative addition to the recent issues regarding outward timeliness and organization for the convention as a whole, especially given the importance of this 10th anniversary. There are no compromises. There are no alternative times. We see no better solution. Holding the masquerade Friday would be discriminatory against those who are unable to attend until Friday afternoon or later. This is for competitors & attendees alike. Holding the masquerade Sunday would be detrimental to those attendees & competitors who need to check out of their hotel rooms, Hyatt or otherwise. There is also the matter of people who have traveled long distances & spent a large sum of money to come to the convention & those who must return home early for the holiday who would be unable to participate or attend. Holding the masquerade earlier Saturday is nothing less than a request for the attendees & competitors in the competition to sacrifice their entire convention Saturday to support one event. Allow me to elaborate. If, for example, the Masquerade is moved to 2pm* Saturday (as suggested by Jazhed508 of the Anime Central Convention forums on 23 March 2007): \"The tentative mandatory meeting on Saturday will be at either 1.5 or 2 hours before the Masquerade\"
